Orlando (/o/r'laendoU/), is a U.S. city and the county seat for Orange County. It is located in Central Florida and is the heart of the Orlando metropolitan region. According to U.S. Census Bureau data released in July 2017, Orlando had a population 2,509,831 making it the 23rd largest metropolitan area[4] in the United States. This makes it the sixth-largest in the Southern United States and the third-largest in Florida after Tampa and Miami. According to the 2020 census, Orlando was the 67th largest city in America, fourth-largest in Florida and state's biggest inland city.
Orlando is known as \"the City Beautiful\", its symbol is the Linton E. Allen Memorial Fountain. [5] Commonly referred to simply as the \"Lake Eola Fountain\" at Lake Eola Park, the Linton E. The reason Orlando is one the most visited cities in the world is due to major events and tourism. In 2018, more than 75,000,000 people visited the city. The Walt Disney World Resort is the largest and most well-known tourist attraction in Orlando. It was opened by Walt Disney Company in 1971 and is located approximately 21 miles (34km) southwest of downtown Orlando. The Universal Orlando Resort opened in 1990, as an expansion of Universal Studios Florida. This park is the only one within the city limits of Orlando.
