The industrial complex and grounds were converted into an arts venue by the Athens Municipality in 1999.

It was once the Athens gasworks. The city's power came from there in the middle of the 19th century. However, it was shut down in the 1980s. This lively area attracts over 900.000 people each year.

Technopolis is Athens' most popular and vibrant cultural venue. You'll find something for everyone here, from live jazz to lindyhop, workshops for kids and craft fairs. And it's all free. It is also home to INNOVATHENS (an incubator for startups) and Athens 9.84FM, a municipal radio station.

The Industrial Gas Museum is the only one of its type in Greece.

Complete restoration of the Control Room and original equipment has been done to the gasworks. Visitors are also welcome to visit the Observation Tower from time to time.
