The University of Jyväskylä strongly condemns the Russian act of war and expresses support to Ukraine and all who suffer directly and indirectly. Finnish universities communicate actively with the Ministry of Education and Culture about the effects of national policies to their operations. The University of Jyväskylä will regularly inform the university community about the situation.
COVID-19 was the mark of 2021. Teaching and remote work were highlighted. Despite the difficulties presented by the pandemic the university was able fulfill its legal obligations. JYU was awarded the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre's audit results (FINEEC).

European Researchers’ Night was held again at the University of Jyväskylä on Friday, 30 September 2022. The event offered new science experiences, practical research experiments and discussions with enthusiastic scientists. Again, the event featured hundreds of researchers from different fields of science. Various activities of the event gathered almost 8,600 visitors.
