The Conference and Exhibition Centre of Seville (Spanish Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Sevilla), also known as FIBES, is a conference and exhibition center in Seville, Andalusia. The centre consists two buildings, FIBES 1 and FIBES 2, which are linked by a footbridge. [1]
In the 1980s, FIBES, an acronym for Feria Iberoamericana de Sevilla (Spanish for Ibero American Exhibition of Seville), was an organization that organized congresses and exhibitions. In 1989, FIBES moved into the building designed by Alvaro Navarro Jamesenez. [2] The centre was further expanded by FIBES II in September 2012. This building, designed by Guillermo Vazquez Consuegra, includes a 3,550-seat auditorium. [3]
In 2015, FIBES was dissolved as a society, and the Seville City Council assumed both buildings.[4]
FIBES I has three pavilions measuring 7,200 square meters each. There are no columns for trade fairs or exhibitions. [1] FIBES 2 contains a 3,550-seat auditorium. [3]
FIBES hosts a variety of social, cultural, and industrial fairs, in addition to national and international congresses. The venue hosted the 91st EU Summit in June 2002. In 2007, it hosted an informal meeting with NATO. [5]
On 2 February 2019, FIBES II hosted the 33rd Goya Awards ceremony.[6] On 3 November 2019, FIBES hosted the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards.[7]
