Myrtle Beach, a city located on the east coast in South Carolina's Horry County, is known as \"The Grand Strand\". It's located at the heart of a continuous, 60-mile (97km) stretch of beach called \"The Grand Strand\" in northeastern South Carolina.

Myrtle Beach is a major tourist destination in South Carolina and the United States. Myrtle Beach is a popular destination because of its subtropical climate, miles and miles of beaches, 86 courses of golf, and 1,800 restaurants. [7][8]

The historic King's Highway (modern U.S. Route 17) is located in the area that was once home of the Waccamaw. The Whither family settled the area during the colonial period. Wither's Swash is the local waterway named after them. The area was originally called \"New Town\" and \"Withers\". Franklin Burroughs' sons built a railroad that led to the beach, as well as the first inn, Seaside Inn. The widow of the deceased named the new community Myrtle Beach in honor of the local wax-myrtle trees.

The Myrtle Beach metropolitan area is the second-fastest-growing metropolitan area in the country with a population of 35,682 in the 2020 census[9] and more than 104,000 people moved to the Myrtle Beach-Conway-North Myrtle Beach area over eight years, representing in a 27.7% growth in population according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
