Monterrey (/.mant@’reI/ (listen), MON-t@–RAY, Spanish pronunciation: [monte’rej] (listen),) is Mexico's capital and third-largest city. It is located in the northeastern state Nuevo Leon. The city is located at the foothills the Sierra Madre Oriental. It anchors the Monterrey Metropolitan Area, which has a GDP (PPP), of US$140 Billion in 2015. [6] Also, it is the second-largest metro area in Mexico, with an estimated population 5,341,171 as of 2020. [7] The city has 1,142,194 residents, according to the 2020 census. [7]

Monterrey is one of the most livable cities in Mexico, and a 2018 study found that suburb San Pedro Garza García is the city with the best quality of life in Mexico.[8] It serves as a commercial center of northern Mexico and is the base of many significant international corporations.
