San Francisco (/.saen fri@n'sIskoU/; Spanish: \"Saint Francis\") is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California. With 815,201 inhabitants, the city is fourth in California and 17th in the United States. It is located on 46.9 miles (121 km) of land at the San Francisco Peninsula. [20] This makes it the second-most densely populated large U.S. City after New York City. [21] Also, it is the fifth most populous U.S. County, just four boroughs below New York City. San Francisco ranked fifth in aggregate income and first per capita income among the 331 U.S. Cities with over 100,000 residents as of 2019. It has a GDP of $0.5 billion in 2020. This CSA, which has over 500,000 inhabitants, had the highest GDP per head in 2019 at $112,910.
