Damrosch Park is an integral part of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. It houses some of the best music, theatre, and dance in the world. The park was completed in 1969 and named after the Damrosch family, a distinguished family of musicians who have greatly contributed to New York City's musical heritage since Leopold Damrosch moved his family here in 1871. It is a great place to enjoy a show, or simply get some fresh air thanks to its extensive arrangement of benches and planter boxes. The park's main focal point is the Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Bandshell. This concrete plaza can hold 3,000 people. It also hosts large events like the Lincoln Center Festival, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, and the Big Apple Circus from October through January. Damrosch Park is always open to everyone, whether you're planning a visit or simply passing by to see the many offerings of Lincoln Center.
