Atlapa Convention Centre (Spanish: Centro de Convenciones de Atlapa) is located in Panama City, Panama. It was inaugurated in June 1980. It is managed by the Panamanian tourism authority and contains 19 meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 600 people. [2]

Atlapa has hosted Panama's national craft show since 1980. [3] The centre also hosts trade fairs and tourism expos. [4] International artists Ricky Martin,[5] Yanni,[6] as well as beauty pageants like Senorita Panama. [7] Miss Universe 1986. [8]

Atlapa also functions as a venue for sports, hosting international boxing[9] and 2006 Men's Central American and Caribbean Basketball Championship. [10]

It was the venue for news conferences hosted by Manuel Noriega, Panama's military dictator. [11] After the 1989 Panamanian elections, the opposition candidates were prevented from speaking to the Atlapa crowds. Protestors also attempted to disrupt Noriega's daughter's wedding at the venue. [12]

Martin Torrijos, 35th President of Panama, was installed in Atlapa's Anayansi theatre in September 2004. [13]

In July 2019, Laurentino Cortizo, 38th President of Panama, was installed in Atlapa’s Anayansi theatre.

In March 2018, Atlapa hosted the Harvard World Model United Nations Conference, in collaboration with Universidad Santa Maria De Antigua which hosted over 1,600 students from all around the globe.
