The HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and its sister event, HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, have announced that the next editions will now not take place until 2021.

Despite moving the show three times, new travel measures in Hong Kong have forced the fairs to postpone until next year.

As part of its anti-pandemic measures, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government announced earlier this month that the compulsory 14-day quarantine for persons arriving in Hong Kong from overseas will be extended until September 18, 2020.

The extension of this restriction means that overseas exhibitors and buyers will have great difficulty joining the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show if they were to run from August 3-6 as scheduled.

In consultation with industry representatives, it has been decided that the next jewellery shows will be held in March 2021 with details as follows:

HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show
1 – 5 March 2021 | AsiaWorld-Expo

HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show
3 – 7 March 2021 | Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

In the meantime, show organizers consulting with the industry to explore other viable promotional options to help companies seize business opportunities during this challenging time. Details of any new arrangement will be announced in due course.

A statement from the organisers says: “We would like to express our gratitude to exhibitors, pavilion organisers, industry associations and buyers from around the world for their tremendous support for HKTDC events — especially to the over 1,100 exhibitors and more than 10,000 buyers already registered for the twin jewellery shows. We will continue to make every effort to help companies capture business opportunities through multiple channels.”

CHINAPLAS - International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries will be held in Shenzhen, not Guangzhou or Shanghai. Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center will host Chinaplas in April 2021.

Held in Shanghai and Guangzhou each year, Chinaplas is one of the biggest trade fairs of plastic & plastic products, rubber & rubber products industries. Adsale reports that 90% of companies that were planning to take part in Chinaplas 2020 have signed up for the rescheduled event, and they are expected over 3600 exhibitors.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its containment measures, China International Tire Expo will now take place from Aug. 16-18, 2021 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.

The postponement comes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. CITEXPO is an international event with visitors from over 120 countries. Current containment measures restrict mass gathering events and movement across international borders meant potentially thousands of stakeholders are limited in their ability to plan ahead and attend the show at its original dates in August, organizers said.
