Fact Sheet

Electricity Pakistan is Pakistan’s premier exhibition in the Energy, Storage and Power Industry. This is a platform dedicated to manufacturers, suppliers and distributors as well as users of energy storage solutions.
Participants from government, utilities, independent producers of energy, energy storage product manufacturers, consulting firms, associate associ as well as other sectors related to the energy, storage, and power sector are invited. Energy storage can be used to a greater extent in Pakistan where the power shortage is typically addressed by large coal, oil and hydroelectric projects. Pakistan, which is a country that has been criticized by environmentalists for its reliance on coal-fired power plants to increase urgently required generating capacity, faces a similar situation. The world invests heavily in renewable and clean energy.
According to the International Energy Agency, the average energy demand for the country is approximately 19,000MW, while the production of electricity is only 15,000MW. The demand can reach 20,000MW in the summer peak months from May to July when air conditioners place an additional burden on the power grid. This often causes power outages. According to the IEA, total electricity demand in India will reach more than 49.000MW by 2025 due to an increase in population.
A fusion of renewable energy and power storage technologies at home seems like an efficient and cost-effective solution. It can also reduce the costs incurred for expansion, operation and maintenance of power infrastructure to virtually nothing. Energy storage systems can be used to benefit the country. The planned renewable energy projects for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor include a solar farm, four wind farms and three hydroelectric plants. These would produce around 3,900MW at a cost about $7.5 billion.
The Pakistan Alternative Energy Development Board estimates that the country can generate 2.9 million megawatts of clean energy annually from solar and wind, as well as 100,000 megawatts from hydropow.
